Synopsis:

By Omega Steve

Straight after dismissing reports about robot dinosaurs as rubbish, this guy runs into Grimlock - literally!

A middle-aged drinker scoffs as the television news in the bar shows footage of giant robot dinosaurs battling on the slopes (a holiday-maker had filmed Megatron's clash with the Dinobots from last issue). He slinks out into the night, still mumbling and bangs his head on Grimlock's leg! The Dinobots have never seen a human and are curious, and they can't understand what the fellow's problem in when he runs off terrified (care of a scary encouter with Ratchet). The doc takes the Dinobots aside to tell them a story that should help to explain the relationship the Autobots have with humans.

The tale set during the Transformers first months of reactivation on Earth, sees the Decepticons mounting an assault on Sherman Dam. The plan was to force more water through than the dam could take to collect the resulting energon, and the fact that this would destroy a nearby settlement was neither here nor there. Naturally the Autobots couldn't allow this and the two factions battled. Prime confronted Megatron at the top of the dam and the two leaders engaged in traditional hand-to-hand combat (Megatron wielding an energy ball and chain and Prime an axe).

Meanwhile, Hound swam under water to get to the source of the huge waves, discovering Rumble pounding the riverbead with his piledrivers. Hound attacked and got uppercutted an uppercut which sent him flying out of the water! Prime was distracted allowing Megatron to knock him off the dam and into the water below....

Comments:

No prizes for guessing that this flashback is almost identical to events in the cartoon episode 'More Than Meets the Eye'. Many wonder where Decepticon Dambusters actually fits into continuity and this is mentioned in issue 63's round-up. We are told it happened right after the Transformers returned from England where they went to look for the Man of Iron. So that means Sparkplug had to wait even longer to be rescued! Just a thought, how come Ratchet and the Dinobots are walking to the Ark anyway? What happened to the shuttlecraft he used to travel to Antarctica and presumably back?
